Golf Cart Seats That Actually Survive Florida
RV & Golf Cart · June 13, 2026 · 6 min read
In a lot of Florida communities, the golf cart is the real family car. It runs to the mailbox, the pool, the neighbor's happy hour, and yes, occasionally the golf course. It also lives outside, in the sun, getting rained on and baked dry over and over. No wonder the seats turn into beef jerky faster than anyone expects.
The good part is that golf cart seats are very fixable, and a good rebuild can actually make your cart the best looking one on the street. Here is how to get golf cart upholstery that actually survives our climate.
Why golf cart seats fail so fast here
Two words. Sun and water. A golf cart seat gets almost no protection. It sits in full sun for hours, then takes an afternoon downpour, then bakes again. The UV breaks down the vinyl while the moisture works into the foam and the seams. Florida's UV is no joke, and you can see just how intense it gets on the EPA UV index resources. That is the same enemy we battle on boats, which is why we lean on the same material lessons from marine vinyl versus regular vinyl.
The material is everything
A cheap seat cover from a big box store might look fine for a season, then crack and fade like the old one. The fix is using genuinely weather rated materials. We use UV and water resistant marine grade vinyl for cart seats, because if it can survive a boat in saltwater, it can absolutely survive your cart in the driveway.
A golf cart in Florida sees more sun than most lifeguards. Treat the seats like they are at the beach, because they basically are.
Underneath, fresh foam that drains and dries keeps the seat comfortable and keeps mildew from setting up shop. Flat, soggy cart seats are no fun, and they are completely avoidable with the right build.
Here is the fun part: make it yours
Golf carts are where people really let loose with custom looks, and we love it. Because the seats are small, a custom job is very doable and the cart becomes unmistakably yours. Think about:
- Two tone color combos that match your cart or your team.
- Contrast piping for a crisp, finished edge.
- Diamond stitching for that high end, custom feel.
- Monograms or a logo stitched right into the seat.
These are the same techniques we use on cars, which we break down in custom auto upholstery styles. On a cart, they really pop.
Great for snowbirds too
If you bring a cart down for the season, or keep one here for when you arrive, it is easy to have the seats freshened while you handle other things. A lot of our seasonal folks knock out the cart and the RV interior in the same visit, so everything is ready for the good months.
